Paris Saint-Germain scores against Maccabi Haifa (1-3) – Messi, Neymar and Mbappe, nothing and then a resounding awakening

Gianluigi Donnarumma: 6

His start to the game – again – highlighted his major flaws on foot and his lack of confidence on the field (5, 10). But he, as for the rest, saved the hut several times, especially by leaving a very nice procession before the break (11, 15, 45). Much lower in the second period before the last sudden intervention in overtime.

  • In short: quiet with his hands, annoying with his feet.

How do we judge the MNM? “We’ve seen gaps that we haven’t seen since the start of the season”

Nordy Mokil: 3.5

It was his debut in the Champions League with Paris and it showed. In a very difficult start to the match with serious losing balls (11) or poorly positioning (16), he was clearly lacking the standards in a system he knows best though. However, his rare profound calls could have hurt.

replace it Achraf Hakimi (84).

Sergio Ramos: 3

We did not recognize him. Very dangerous since the start of the season, it passed completely on Wednesday. He who raises in no way the opening match (24) and thus deserted the Paris region. Hit in the clash, and not always inspired to lift, he struggled with all the opposing attacks on the back foot.

  • In short: not reliable at all.

Marquinhos: 4

He was again undermined by his direct opponent, Piero, who frankly shocked him with his physical density. He sometimes tried to hear the sound of revolution or bring his sense of healing, but it was often in a vacuum, the fault of no man’s land in the middle. Less difficulty in the second half after Maccabi’s physical deterioration. He presents himself with the situation in the corner (45).

  • In short: he was not particularly reassured about his current actions.

Danilo Pereira: 4

Replacing Presnel Kimpembe, he didn’t try but struggled like all of his fellow defensive players. Nuno Mendes didn’t help him with difficulty, he clogged a lot, without much efficiency, leaving many spaces behind his back (27, 43).

  • In short: he suffered more than his law required.

“What worries me is the lack of reaction from Galtier.”

Nuno Mendes: 4

If Maccabi Haifa is very exciting in the first period, it is also because the young Portuguese will never be able to monitor his territory. Abused by Atzeli, he didn’t really know how to take action on his opponents, who ended up insisting on his side. Offensively, it never even crossed his mind, until after Mbappe’s goal.

  • In short: less exciting when there are few movements….

Marco Verratti: 5

He was the main victim of Parisian indifference with very few solutions at his disposal and spent a first term running after his opponents. Duo Sherry Abu Fani will make him see all colors. Although he was less prominent in offensive terms, he ended up with a clinical opening for Neymar (88th position).

  • In short: for once, it was his opponents who drove him crazy

Vitinaha: 5.5

It was the only level for more than an hour of play, and he struggled to form it without counting to make up for Paris’ shortcomings. His defensive slaughter will be invaluable, and will often lead to dangerous situations (ranked 62). He is behind the opposite goal but he is not the main culprit (24th).

  • In short: In the middle of the desert, he never gave up.

replace it Fabian Ruiz (74).

Lionel Messi: 6

His start to the match was a nightmare, with a dry floor that bothered him greatly. Multiple bullet losses, relatively few moves and often poor choices. But in the end he was the one who was ambushed after passing Mbappe (37). His return from the locker room was not the most exciting, but it was he who launched the Parisian awakening with a fine penetration (64) before providing a superb pass to Mbappe (69). It ended better, with donuts that deserved a better fate.

  • In short: squander before caviar.

Kylian Mbappe: 6

He started with two massive chances, missed in two unnecessary dribbles in these duels against the goalkeeper (2, 11). Two mistakes that nicely illustrate a match where he would have missed a lot, like his attacking friends. He often stops, rarely with the right rhythm, but opens the game on his own: first in this elegant sequence he offers Messi’s equalizer (37) and then on his own after the Argentine gives him the same (68).

  • In short: very disappointing but very crucial.

Neymar: 5

He also never appeared in his match. He lost his duel against the goalkeeper by also trying to dribble without getting the penalty he was hoping to get (28). A fact of the game completely knocked him out of his game, like his corner just outside the goal (34). His extremely rare stalls left the Parisian environment unresolved and his raids did not produce convincing results. After taking down the opponent’s flag, he ended up showing a better face, even giving himself the last goal and collecting a yellow card to celebrate (88th place).

In short: it will probably be his worst game of the season so far.

replace it Carlos Soler (90 + 1st).
